Forgot to mention yesterday...

Avery slept thru the whole night, yes the whole night on Tuesday! We put her down about 9:30 p.m. and she woke up just as our alarm went off around 6 a.m. We were astonished! Last night wasn't as good...went to bed around 9:30, up at 2:45, up again at 6....oh well, a full night sleep once in a while is nothing to complain about!

First "real" bath and weight update

Avery had her first real bath, in the bathtub and not on the counter laying on towels. She loved it! No crying, no fussing, and she looked super adorable just laid out letting Mommy clean her up. She had peed all over herself again while being changed - she's now done that about 3 times! But we can't complain - bath time is going to be fun! Daddy, Grandma and Auntie Kari were on hand to see the first bath! (Photos edited for nudity, of course!)

She also got weighed today - 10 lb. and 1 oz. She's growing!!!

OMG - Avery is already 5 weeks old!

How did time fly by so fast??!! Our little girl is already five weeks old, craziness! She's still eating well and sleeping well. Two nights this past week we had 7 hours straight. AWESOME! We've sinced dropped back to between 5-6 hours, but those two 7 hour nights were fantastic. We've been doing dinners out with her and she's a total angel. No crying or fussing for the most part, she just usually snoozes while Daddy and I eat. We've been practicing with the bottle more, but she's still a pretty messy eater (evidenced below). 3+ weeks and doing great!

Nothing new to report, which I think at this point is great news! No emergency calls to the doctor, no crying that we think is abnormal, just a happy healthy Avery! She weighed in today at 9 lb., 3.5 oz. - she's gaining weight great!! Mom and Dad are tired, but to be expected, right?!?! We are just in love with Avery and now can't imagine life without her! 2 week doctor's appointment

Avery saw the nurse practitioner, Rachel, for her two week well child visit. She is in the 60% percentile for weight, a beefy 8 lb., 9 oz. today! She's also grown just over 1.5" and is now 21 and 5/8 inches tall (90th percentile - she'll be tall like Daddy!!), and her head has grown as well from 13.5 inches to 14 and 1/8 inches. She's growing all over and at the right rate. She got her heel pricked for the second round of newborn genetic screening, and although she wailed at first, she quickly calmed down. She was a gem while getting looked over and even copped a couple of smiles at Nurse Rachel. Overall, she's in perfect health and doing wonderfully. Mommy caught a cold over the weekend and is still struggling to kick it, but doing better. Daddy is getting ready for his annual backpacking fishing trip into the Black Canyon. He'll be gone Wednesday through Sunday this week and we already are thinking about how much we'll miss him. Grandma and Aunt Kari will be coming to stay with us though, so we'll be just fine.

Well, let me just say - breast feeding is hard! But I went to the lactation consultant for a follow up today and she ate 1.5 oz while we were there, so I'm obvioulsy doing something right! And, on top of that, we took her by the pediatricians office yesterday to borrow their scale and she has gained 6+ oz. since her first peds appt. last Thursday. So we're on a roll! She now weighs 8 lb. and 1/2 oz. Already got chubby little cheeks and is just adorable. I'm still recovering from the c-section. Mainly I have some soreness and tenderness, but each day gets better.

Our special girl had tons of visitors. My grandfather's funeral was the day after she was born, so I think she helped people during that difficult time. Lots of family came to visit her.
