Met a girl last night who just had ACL surgery

We went to a BBQ last night at Matt's (Ben's buddy from work) and in walks this girl on crutches, huge brace on her leg and I just knew she'd had ACL surgery. So I walked up to her and said something along the lines of I don't know you, never have met you, but at some point you and I are going to need to chat tonight. So we sat down and she filled me in where she is in recovery so far. She tore her ACL skiing at the end of March, had surgery at the end of April, so it's now been about 2 1/2 weeks since her surgery date. She was still on crutches! I was kinda discouraged. Dr. G. told me that he expects I'll be able to ditch the crutches within about 7 days at the most. So...Ben in all his wisdom, reminded me that every person is different and I can't gauge my recovery on what she said. Which is true. And different surgeons, blah, blah, so I really can't tell for sure what it'll be like for me. But she did tell me it gets easier over time. She and I are actually going to be at the same physical therapy place downtown, so I'm sure I'll see her there at some point. It'll be good for me to see someone a few steps ahead of me, improving each week, to know that it will get easier! She also told me that her parents flew out from D.C. to come stay with her and help her out. She said she definitely needed it. So - Mom and Kari - be prepared to help me out when Ben is back to work!

your recovery nurse sounds like a good job for your dad. he is retired. and he can go fishing with me while you are sleeping!
